Fundamentals of an Airline Lubricator
Lubrication is a need for almost all valves, chambers, equipment, air compressors, and other air-driven devices. A lubricant 'washes away' compressor oils that keep flowing in vapour through a system. Also, it adds up usable life to a component. This complete job gets done flawlessly when you use an airline lubricator over a traditional technique or tool. You may also people knowing it as a lubricator.
An airline lubricator has a
significant part to play in the entire function of pneumatic tools. It allows
pneumatic tools to stay lubricated for their efficient functions and
up-to-the-mark performance of any pneumatic equipment. By regulating tool oil
into a compressed air system, it dramatically minimizes friction between
components, reduce wear & tear and improves overall productivity.
A lubricator allows you to get
rid of various problems related with too much or too little lubrication which
used to happen using traditional techniques such as oil or a grease gun.
Types and Functions of an Airline Lubricator:
An airline lubricator has a job
of injecting a controlled amount of oil into the downstream airflow. There are
two types of such lubricators:
·
Oil-fog
·
Micro-fog
The first type is used in simple
and heavy-duty applications such as valves, cylinders, and tools. The droplets
generated by it are passed into the airflow.
The second type i.e. micro-fog
lubricators are used for applications with more than one valves or cylinders or
lubrication points. It atomizes the droplets before the contact the airflow.
The average particle sizes ranges from 1 to 2 microns and only 10% particles in
sight dome are transmitted downstream.
Once you adjust or fit an airline
lubricator, it will automatically balance the amount of lubricant for the
air-powered equipment. However, you will need to regularly replace the
reservoir for a safe and hassle-free use of the tool. A coalescing filter
removes compressor oil aerosols when lubricators are not in use.
Conclusion:
A lubricator is specifically
designed to ensure the cleanliness, lubrication, and sufficient filtering of
compressed air from the system. Make sure that you need this system genuinely
as the air from it exhausts to atmosphere through the valves or vents and these
areas may end up having oil compound in the air.
